My name is Balázs Vecsey, I am a Software Engineer currently working at CREY Games. I created this website mainly to serve as my creative outlet, but I am also striving to provide useful and quality content.
I started my creative career as a LEGO enthusiast. After I grew out of it, mainly due to lack of resources, I was looking for something with more limitless potential. I always liked videogames, so naturally I wanted to make my own. Did some levels in Jazz Jackrabbit 2 in my early days, but there is nothing like doing every part of the game yourself, so I started learning computer programming.
When writing a “practical” software or app, unless you are making the next Facebook, most likely someone had already done it before you, and hundreds of clones exist. With games on the other hand, it doesn't have to be an original, life changing idea. Most games just take already existing ideas, mix them together, and add a little personal touch. And they are still fun! This can be really motivating, because you can achieve something great in the end, something that people are going to play and possibly enjoy, while on a technical level building a game is just as complex and challenging as building a practical software.
You can find my finished games and apps hosted here for free under the My Work category.
I am interested in a lot of things and try them out as hobbies. I have delved into the world of analog electronics and microcontrollers, namely the Arduino. I do all kinds of handcrafted items made of metal and leather. I also have started building LEGO Great Ball Contraptions, most of which are automated with Arduino. I share my results in my Developer Blog, sometimes with building instructions, schematics and source code, anything that is needed to make it available for anyone to make it for themselves.
Take a look around in my Developer Blog, there might be a topic you’ll find interesting:
Starting with the most relevant ones:
- SCSS / LESS
- Arduino C/C++
- .NET Core
- ASP.NET MVC
- ASP.NET Web Forms
